Lorraine Kelly


Lorraine Kelly, OBE is a Scottish television presenter, journalist and actress, best known as a presenter for TVam, and later GMTV and ITV Breakfast, on Daybreak and Lorraine. Previously, she was a reporter and main presenter of TVams Good Morning Britain, one of the UKs original breakfast television news programmes.

Kelly was born in the Gorbals, Glasgow. She is of Irish ancestry and Kellys father, John, worked as a television repairman. She spent the first few years of her life in Glasgow before the family moved to East Kilbride where she attended Claremont High School. She turned down a university place to read English and Russian in favour of a job on the East Kilbride News, her local newspaper, and then joined BBC Scotland as a researcher in 1983. She moved to TVam as an onscreen reporter covering Scottish news in 1984.
